Born and raised in Bristol, Connecticut, I wanted to become either a scientist or an artist. My father wanted me to learn a trade. Instead I became an architect, but I've always had a camera. I have two full time jobs I guess.
From the beginning I have been intrigued with accidental or unconscious beauty and much of my early work focused on portraying industrial architecture in an heroic light. I find there to be a truthful honesty demonstrated by engineers designing to resolve a physical requirement. Lately I have been looking at the flip side by reevaluating deliberate and conscious design by architects and artists who strive to imbue meaning but seem to miss the mark. I am exploring this disconnect.
